Hip-Hop Legend Nas has sold the rights to two of his songs via a new crypto music platform

The rapper Nas sold two new song releases as an NFT; what is an NFT?

A non-fungible token (NFT) is a non-interchangeable unit of data stored on a blockchain, a form

of digital ledger. Types of NFT data units may be associated with digital files such as photos,

videos, and audio. Because each token is uniquely identifiable, NFTs differ from blockchain

cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin.

Royal has entered the entertainment industry, a marketplace for music NFTs. Royal is a place

where users can purchase shares of songs, and then earn royalties on the music they’ve

invested in.

This month, Nas’s new two songs have gathered fans’ attention and anticipation. The

collaboration between Nas and Royal is not the only thing fans are talking about, Royal has

announced it will sell extended versions of NFTs called limited digital assets that include

streaming royalty rights to two of Nas’ tracks, “Ultra Black” and “Rare.”

This allows 50 percent of Nas’ streaming rights for each song to be available to the public.

Nas and Royal was a massive success, the launch had the web down within minutes of the

drop. Fans caused huge delays and servers to crash on the platform. Both parties went on their

social media platforms to thank fans and supporters for helping create a success and

welcoming collaboration between Nas and Royal.

For the Nas music NFT drop, Nas will maintain 50% of the royalties for every NFT sale. Those

who buy one of the 500 Gold tokens will receive 7% from royalties on every resale, with the 250

Platinum token holders and 10 Diamond holders each earning 21% from royalties.

For Royal, they have received $55 million in Series. Their main goal is to give artists the

opportunity to share ownership over their work with supporters through NFTs.

Nas’s music drop has opened and created a new way for upcoming artists. It proves new forms

of collaboration can impact fans and artists, especially financially. Fans are excited to see what’s

next with Nas and Royal and how music artists will contribute NFT’s into their upcoming

projects. Will this be the new hype of the upcoming generation? Well supporters are welcoming

it with open arms and so are we.
