Independent Spotlight: Fredo

Written by Cristian Estrada

Marvin William Bailey, also known as Fredo, is a British rapper and singer from London. He grew up in Queen’s Park, London and spent most of his childhood in West London and Hertfordshire. He attended school there, was expelled, and was surrounded by gang activity living on West London’s Mozart Estate. In his youth he liked listening to Giggs and 50 Cent.

His first released track “They Ain’t 100” came out in March of 2016 and three weeks later he would go to prison for a charge he later beat. In prison, his track gained popularity which would inspire him to keep his music career going. He has a feature on fellow UK rapper Dave’s hit single “Funky Friday.”

His first album, “Third Avenue” was released in 2019 with the album name being inspired by the housing estate he grew up in. His next album, “Money Can’t’ Buy Happiness”, was released in early 2021 with features from Summer Walker, Dave, Pop Smoke, and Young Adz. He recently released another album on August 5th called “Independence Day” that was released independently.
