Center Stage: Nas Wins His First Grammy

American rapper and songwriter Nas won Best Rap Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards for his ‘King’s Disease’ Album. After being nominated for a Grammy 14 times, he finally won his first ever Grammy award. The album beat out “Black Habits” by D Smoke, “A Written Testimony” by Jay Electronica, “Alfredo” by Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist, and “The Allegory” by Royce da 5′9”.

‘King’s Disease’ is the rappers 13th studio album. The album has 13 tracks featuring artists like Charlie Wilson, Don Toliver, Lil Durk, Anderson .Paak, Fivio Foreign, A$AP Ferg, and fellow Firm alumni Foxy Brown, Dr. Dre, AZ, and Cormega, and others. 

The 47-year-old rapper from Queens borough of New York City was first nominated for a Grammy back in 1996 for Best Rap Solo Performance for his song ‘If I Ruled the World’ which is a single with Lauryn Hill from his second album ‘It Was Written’.
