Independent Spotlight: Skeme

Lonnie Kimble but better known as “Skeme” is a rapper from the city of Inglewood, California. Skeme was born January 3, 1990 in Inglewood, California. Skeme began writing at 15 but began rapping at the age 17.


In 2012, Skeme released his debut album “Alive & Living” independently. The album contained guest appearances from artist like Iggy Azalea, Schoolboy Q, Kendrick Lamar, Dom Kennedy and Problem. Skeme received offers from labels which included Top Dawg, Def Jam, Roc Nation and Universal during 2013, but choose to stay independent.


In 2013, Skeme released his second album “Ingleworld.” After the release of the album MTV considered Skeme as one hip-hop’s top prospects for 2014. Skeme recently worked with artist like The Game and Chris Brown.


The future looks bright for Skeme, he was nominated 10th for the XXL 2016 Freshman Cover which picks the stars of tomorrow. Be sure to check him out.
