Growing up, Cassper Nyovest loved being on stage and performing in front of crowds. He was in plays and shows in elementary school and at the young age of 13 he decided he wanted to be a rapper. His brother was a huge part of his life and he passed away when Cassper was only 13 and since he was a rapper, Cassper then went to music, which was inspired by his brother.
He was in the music groups Childhood Gangsters and Slow Motion in 2004. In 2008, Impact Sounds gave Cassper a record deal but shortly after that, he started his own label called Press Play Music.
Hip Hop Pantsula featured Cassper on his album Dumela and that is what help get Cassper recognized across South Africa. Cassper looked up to Hip Hop Pantsula and since they were both from Montshiwa they represented their hometown together. Cassper was able to tour with Hip Hop Pantsula and his career took off and he got to travel worldwide.
