“Empire” is a hip-hop musical soap opera, debuted on the FOX channel on January 2015. The family drama plays out the cutthroat world of the music industry. In the first season, the founder and CEO of the successful record label empire, and former drug dealer, Lucious Lyon has been diagnosed with ALS. Thinking he’s going to die, he decides to choose one of his three sons to take over the company when he dies. Meanwhile, his ex wife and co-founder of Empire, Cookie, has been released from prison after 17 years and wants to reclaim her rightful place in the company because it was her money that helped build the Empire. The success of season earned them a second season and 17 million viewers for the season finally.
Season 2 of “Empire” is made up of 18 episodes and divided into 2 parts, with 16 million viewers in the season premier on September 23rd, 2015. The second part premier this past week on March 30th, and continues to be a success with it’s millions of viewers. The success of the show has not only attracted millions of viewers but also awards for the actors. Taraji P. Henson, Cookie, won a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series-Drama, earlier this year. Also, winning a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series, winning along Terrence Howard, Lucious, for Outstanding Actor. Empire has now singed for season 3.
This is definitely the show to watch, not just because of the drama and a great acting but also great music and special guest appearances from many R&B and Hip-Hop artist like Snoop Dogg, Neyo, and many more
